FAQ

Do I have to pay for registration if I am a newcomer, unemployed or can’t afford the fee?

Registration is 35 EUR for the entire weekend. This is lower than the per-head cost of the event, to enable as many people as possible to attend. Other fund-raising measures during the event will make up the difference.

If you have a financial hardship, you may apply for funds we have set aside to pay for attendees who may not otherwise be able to afford attending the event.

These funds may be accessed through our registration form. Please do go ahead and register for the event and select “Registration Scholarship.” You will not be charged. A convention coordinator will then be in touch. Please note these funds are limited and are on a first come, first serve basis.

All other inquiries may be made by email to berlincon2024@gmail.com

For the record, no one has ever been turned away at the door for not being able to pay the registration fee.

Do I have to pay for registration if I am a member of Al-Anon?
Yes.

Can I get a refund if I can’t attend?

At this time, we are unable to process refunds. If you are unable to attend, please consider letting us know so that we may donate your registration fee to our scholarship funds.

Will there be Tradition 7 baskets at the event?

Yes, 7th tradition baskets will be available at the registration table and in every meeting room. You may also contribute to the 7th tradition when you register online in advance. These contributions are crucial to making our event self-supporting.

7th Tradition money collected in Al-Anon meetings will be sent to Al-Anon.

Any surplus funds will carry over to next year and/or be sent to Berlin AA Intergroup. There will be interim financial reporting at the event and final financial reporting thereafter.

Are tea and coffee provided for free?

No, we are unable to provide tea and coffee service at this venue. However, there are a number of self-catering options within very close walking distance. Please see the map of local recommendations.

What kind of food is available in the area?

Please see the map of local recommendations.

What’s the best way to get to the venue?

S/U-Bahn Schönhauser Allee (U2; S41/42, S1, S2, 25, S8, S85) and the M1 tram stop are both two minutes by foot from the venue. Google Maps works well in Berlin, or we recommend downloading the local BVG transportation app. Bike paths are plentiful in Prenzlauer Berg and there is bicycle parking in front of the venue. Paid street parking and a parking garage at the nearby shopping center are also available.

Is the venue handicap accessible?

Yes, it is. There is a lift to the first floor.

Are children or pets allowed?

Pets are not allowed at the venue.
Children are more than welcome to attend with their parents/guardians. We kindly request that they are kept occupied during meetings under adult supervision. There is a park with playground equipment at Arnimplatz, less than ten minutes away by foot, and a smaller playground (Dschungelspielplatz) suitable for smaller children just around the corner.

Is smoking allowed?

Smoking is not allowed anywhere inside the venue. Please use public ashtrays on the streets and consider not smoking directly in front of the venue entrance.

Will any part of the event be hybrid?

Unfortunately not. This convention will be held entirely in-person.

Will the meetings be recorded?

Yes, the speakers at the main meetings on Friday and Saturday night and Sunday morning will be recorded. These will be made available online and posted on this website after the event.

How can I volunteer to be of service?

Thank you wanting to be of service! To check what service positions are available, please see this spreadsheet [link coming soon] and fill out your information. If for whatever reason you are unable to show up for your service commitment, we ask that you remove your name from the spreadsheet and inform one of the convention coordinators.

My question is not in the FAQ. How can I get in touch?

There is a solution. Please email us at berlincon2024@gmail.com
